PAPERHEAD Tips & Tricks

Twelve habits that carry every PAPERHEAD run, gathered from the wiki’s beginner guide, walkthrough, and weapons coverage. Nothing here invents mechanics — every tip maps to a system the other pages document in depth, with links where the detail lives.

Movement Tips (The First Four)

1. Dash is travel, not panic. The beginner guide says it plainly: standing still is the only real difficulty setting. Chain dashes into jumps as your default way across any room, and grounded time becomes the exception instead of the rule.

2. Airtime beats aim time. Cardboard enemies track grounded targets far better than moving ones. If you catch yourself standing to aim, you are usually better served by beading a weak point mid-dash than by planting your feet.

3. Learn the kick before it feels necessary. Kicks stagger most early enemies instantly, cost no ammo, and set up the pencil finisher. Players who skip the boots in hour one come back for them after the first ammo drought — skip the drought instead.

4. Reconnect your loops. The walkthrough’s zone-one advice scales to the whole facility: branch corridors read better on a second pass with new upgrades. Bank the critical path first, then collect.

Combat Tips (The Middle Four)

5. Bead before peek. The pencil rewards committing to a weak point you have already read. Peeking first and aiming second is how shells get wasted.

6. Weak points before bodies. Every weapons-page entry rewards the same priority: the glowing bead, then the body. Body damage is the fallback, not the plan.

7. Treat shells as a resource with a schedule. Ammo droughts are a designed pressure. Spend shotgun shells on gate fights and emergencies; let the pencil and the kick carry trash clears.

8. Stagger chains finish fights cheaply. A kick into a pencil finisher removes early enemies without a single shell. Chain staggers whenever two or more enemies share a room.

Run Tips (The Last Four)

9. Read gates as skill checks, not walls. The walkthrough frames each gate boss as the game teaching a transition. Arrive with the verbs automatic and gates fall in one or two attempts.

10. Do secrets with new tools, not old habits. Zone-one secrets read better with the quick-draw upgrade. Revisit old wings whenever a traversal or weapon upgrade lands.

11. Keep the characters page in mind. The facility’s cast follows patterns — the characters guide documents who does what, and enemy reads get faster once you name them.

12. Codes: don’t chase them. The codes page keeps the honest status of any PAPERHEAD redeem codes. If a site promises codes, check that page before you spend an evening on clickbait.

Where to Go Next

New players should start with the beginner guide, then route the facility with the walkthrough. Weapon-specific questions live on the weapons guide; boss gates on the boss guide. This is an unofficial fan wiki and is not affiliated with Hypertrain or Valve.
